On THe Red Carpet With The AACTA AWARDS and Festival

February 2026 saw us team up once again with the team at the AACTA Awards and Festival! From shooting Red Carpet Interviews with Sarah Snook, to afterparty event reels with Joel Edgerton, red carpets with Baz Luhrmann, portraiture with Yerin Ha, and any number of wonderful festival events, the four day program was jam packed - not just for us, but for the thousands of guests who attended.

THE RED CARPET

Shooting the red carpet is a controlled chaos. High pressure, high energy, and completely unforgiving.

Talent moves fast, windows are tight, and every interview has to land first take.

Our focus is on cutting through the noise: capturing clean audio in a crowded environment, shaping flattering light in constantly shifting conditions, and finding space where there often isn’t any.

The turnaround is just as intense. Each interview is ingested, cut, and delivered within an hour of carpet wrap, allowing the awards’ social channels to publish in real time while the event is still unfolding on television.

It’s a test of precision, speed, and composure.

IN THE PORTRAIT STUDIO

In contrast, the portrait studio offers a moment of control and craft.

Working alongside a stills photographer, we create a cinematic environment designed to elevate each subject. Shot on the RED Komodo at T1.8, the imagery leans into shallow depth, rich texture, and a refined visual language that feels both intimate and high-end.

Every frame is considered—lighting sculpted, movement intentional—resulting in portraits that carry a sense of elegance, prestige, and timelessness.

The afterparty is where the formality drops and the energy shifts.

Our approach becomes fluid and responsive, capturing the atmosphere as it unfolds without disrupting it. Moving through dense crowds, we balance discretion with instinct, ensuring guests feel at ease while we document the night authentically.

The edit leans into a hype-driven rhythm: flashes of recognisable faces, sponsor moments, and candid interactions layered into a piece that reflects the exuberance of the event.

Even here, speed matters. Our first pass is delivered the next morning, ready to extend the life of the celebration.

THE AFTERPARTY

MORE THAN THE MOMENT

This project is a clear reflection of our ability to operate across large-scale, multi-day events while maintaining a high level of craft and efficiency.

Across four days, multiple cameras, and over six terabytes of footage, we captured not just the awards night, but the full scope of the festival—panels, talks, social events, and community moments.

From fast-turnaround red carpet content to polished portraiture and high-energy event coverage, it’s a workflow built on experience and trust. Being invited back year after year speaks to the consistency of that delivery.

We love working on the AACTA Festival and Awards; not just for what we create, but because of the collaborative, energising team behind it.
