    Jacob Richardson is an Australian filmmaker and the founder of Film Focus. Since establishing the company in 2016, he has directed and produced commercial work for brands including Telstra, Nespresso, IKEA, Ferrari and BMW, alongside developing and producing original feature films and documentaries.

    His debut feature, The Aegean, premiered at the Brisbane International Film Festival and went on to an international festival run before its Australian theatrical release in 2025. He also produced and shot the feature documentary A Moment In The Sun, which won Best Feature at the Maine International Film Festival.

    Jacob is now based between Australia and the UAE, where he continues to develop original films and lead Film Focus' commercial work internationally.

  • Our commercial work grew naturally from our passion for filmmaking and years spent working in the feature film and documentary space.

    We create cinematic films for brands, companies and organisations - bringing the same attention to story, performance, image and production value to commercial work as we do to our films.

    From a campaign film to a brand story, we believe commercial work should do more than look good. It should have something to say.

  • Film has always been at the heart of Film Focus.

    In 2022, our short documentary Salt of the Earth, about Chicken Salt inventor Peter Brinkworth, premiered at the Adelaide Film Festival before attracting major domestic and international media attention, including coverage from the ABC and BBC World News.

    We went on to produce The Aegean, Jacob Richardson’s directorial feature debut. Written and directed by Jacob and filmed in Greece, the drama premiered at the Brisbane International Film Festival before travelling to festivals across Europe, Asia and the USA. It was selected by the Australian High Commission in Malta for the EUNIC Film Festival and released theatrically in Australia by Radioactive Pictures in 2025, before moving into further broadcast and international distribution.

    Film Focus also produced the feature documentary A Moment In The Sun, which premiered at the Maine International Film Festival in 2025 and went on to receive festival and distribution releases in Australia, the USA and Spain, including a PBS broadcast in the United States.

    Today, Film Focus continues to develop and produce original stories, with a growing slate of feature projects including Death in the Dordogne, Jacob’s next feature film, supported by Screen Queensland.

  • Originally founded in Australia in 2016, Film Focus now operates between Australia and the UAE, with Dubai providing a base for international commercial and production work.

The People Behind Film Focus

Jacob Richardson is an Australian filmmaker and the founder of Film Focus.

Since 2016, Jacob has led commercial projects for clients including Telstra, Nespresso, IKEA, Ferrari, BMW and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, alongside developing and producing original films and documentaries.

His debut short documentary, Salt of the Earth, about the inventor of Chicken Salt, premiered at the Adelaide Film Festival and went on to attract significant domestic and international media attention, including coverage from the ABC and BBC World News.

Jacob subsequently wrote and directed his debut feature, The Aegean, a drama set and shot in Greece starring Costas Mandylor and Greek rapper LIGHT. The film premiered at the Brisbane International Film Festival before screening at festivals across Europe, Asia, the USA and Canada. It was selected by the Australian High Commission in Malta for the EUNIC Film Festival and released theatrically in Australia by Radioactive Pictures in 2025, where it enjoyed a 17-week cinema run. The film is now available internationally, including on Emirates flights, with sales represented by Blue Eyes Film.

Jacob also produced and served as cinematographer on the US-shot feature documentary A Moment In The Sun, which won Best Feature at the Maine International Film Festival in 2025.

His work has been recognised through a nomination for Emerging Screen Professional of the Year at the 2024 Gold Coast Film Festival Gala Awards and he was named in IF Magazine's 2025 Rising Talent Directors list.

Now based between Australia and the UAE, Jacob continues to develop original feature projects while leading Film Focus' commercial work internationally.

AIDA VUCIC

Aida Vucic is an award-winning producer and co-owner of Film Focus, with a background spanning finance, strategy, business management and management consulting.

Aida produced the feature film The Aegean, working alongside Jacob Richardson from development through to distribution and helping secure its Australian theatrical release and international sales representation. She subsequently produced the feature documentary A Moment In The Sun, filmed in the USA, which won Best Feature at the Maine International Film Festival in 2025, screened on PBS in the United States and went on to play festivals across Australia and the USA.

Drawing on more than a decade of experience in finance, strategy and management consulting, Aida brings a strong commercial and strategic perspective to her producing work. At Film Focus, she works across development, production, business strategy and partnerships, helping build the company’s original film slate and international operations.

Aida is passionate about independent producing and developing stories that bridge cultural and social divides while connecting with broad audiences through compelling, entertaining cinema.
